OVERVIEW

After very long time Motorola is back in mobile market with their new flagship device MOTO G. Everybody from digital world expecting something phenomenal when Google acquire Motorola mobility in 2012. But now Google sold Motorola mobility to Chinese computing giant LENOVO. Moto G is very good, promising and great value for money device at its price when we look into the specs . Now you have choices, you don't have to choose from some Chinese brand or  Samsung. And this device seems to do visible damage to the Indian mobile manufacturers like micromax, lava etc in the local market @ RS 14k price. This phone comes in two variant 8GB and 16GB with no expandable memory, 4.5 inch 720p display, latest android kit-Kat  4.4.2, 1.2 GHz quad-core snapdragon 400 processor, 1gb  ram, 5 MP rear camera with flash and 1.3 MP front facing camera, dual sim and weight only 143g.

HARDWARE & DESIGN. 
  

MOTO  G looks like any other Smartphone out there and not very much eye catching but when you hold it in your  hand you will feel the difference that how exactly its different from other phones under the price of INR 15,000(>$200). I had used many phones at this price range but none of them feel so premium and stylish you either get plasticy design of Samsung or some fancy Chinese design. Moto G comes with 4.5 inch IPS  display with 329 ppi and resolution 1280 X 720 which on paper outperforms the display of Iphone 5s(<=for review) which is a 4 inch, 1136 x 640 resolution with 326 ppi. In front you will not find any physical home, back & menu  buttons as they appears on screen, there is 1.3 MP front facing camera. MOTO  G comes with common but reliable rubberised design which is practically very much scratch proof . on the left side of the phone you will see volume rocker and power key. At the back you will get Motorola brand marking 5 MP camera with flash, & speaker . few things which may bother you is the weight which is 143g and thickness i.e., 11.6 mm which is slightly more than the other devices available at this price but you can compromise for what Moto g is giving you.

The one thing you will feel an average performer is the 5 MP shooter of this phone. The camera of this phone is very average and if I' am not wrong only nokia lumia devices like LUMIA 520 & LUMIA 525 gives you very good 5 MP camera performance otherwise all the phones are just same and there is no big difference you can detect. It also comes with 1.3 MP front facing camera which is ok for video calling and selfie.

MOTO G is powered by a qualcomm snapdragon 400 quad core 1.2 GHz cortex A7 processor with 1 GB of ram which is can handle your day to day performances without any hiccups. When other  brand at this price use MediaTek processors Moto g comes with qualcomm snapdragon. This phones performs well with power of quad core, you can do gaming, HD movie watching, browsing with ease. The only thing is the limited storage  which really hurts as you will only get 5 GB user available with 8 GB  variant and 11 GB  with 16 GB variant. If you are not someone who uses lots of apps at a time like 15-20 apps installed and using them simultaneously you will not face any slow down while using this device. Overall performance of this phone is remarkable.

SOFTWARE & BATTERY

Moto g runs the latest android 4.4 kit-Kat, very good user interface which looks like stock android. Its comes with all the pre loaded ads by Google like quickoffice , Google drive and Google play store with thousands of free apps that will make your phone looks different every day. In Moto g you will not get a customisable user interface but still you will get lots of apps from play store and third party vendors to customise your phone according to you.  It also comes pre loaded with the apps like Motorola migrate - this feature can copy all your media files, contacts, messages and previous phone settings from your old android device to the new Moto g but it works only for android devices you cannot migrate files from windows phone or Iphone. The other cool feature is Motorola assist-  you just have to enter the timing when and what you are doing and rest is done by Motorola assist. It will silence you phone when you are sleeping or when you are in meeting. It can control volume, number of ringtone and much more for you. This feature is more practical than any other app available is the market.

The new Motorola Moto G comes with 2070 mAh battery, this is a good battery capacity which can long last for a day even after heavy duty usage which include gaming, internet browsing, videos, music, moderate calling etc.

VERDICT

My final words for device is that you cannot find this kind of software and software combo from a recognised brand name. This is the best phone available in the market for INR 15,000($200) till now. The only concern is limited storage and average camera performance but at this price you won't find camera any better unless you go far a nokia lumia device. So for me this is a deal, buy it without giving it a second thought.
